During the annual open enrollment period, you can buy health care coverage directly from an insurance company for yourself or for your immediate family. As another option, you can buy health care coverage through the Washington Healthplanfinder (www.wahealthplanfinder.org), where you might qualify for help paying your premium.
Important: The 2021 annual open enrollment period to buy an individual and family health plan is closed. If you missed open enrollment, you can buy a plan directly through the Washington Health Benefit Exchange during a special enrollment period that runs through Aug. 15, 2021. Open enrollment for 2022 occurs Nov. 1, 2021 through Dec. 15, 2021 for coverage to take effect Jan. 1, 2022.
If you can't afford coverage for you or your kids, you may qualify for our state’s Apple Health (www.hca.wa.gov) program. You can sign up for it through the Washington Healthplanfinder (www.wahealthplanfinder.org) at any time throughout the year.
If you're age 65 or if you've been on Social Security Disability for at least 24 months, you may qualify for Medicare.
