Common public records requests for information we don't collect or maintain:

It's important to know that the OIC does not collect or maintain insurance information on individual policyholders. Here are some examples of common records requests for information we can't provide and links to help you find what you're looking for.

Can you help me find my father's old life insurance policy?

We don't collect or keep records on any individual life insurance policyholders, but we have put together a list of tips to help people find life insurance policies for their loved ones.

I was in an accident. Can you tell me what insurance the other driver has?

You will need to check with the other driver. If law enforcement was requested at the scene of the accident, it may be a good idea to contact the law enforcement agency to see if they have the other driver's information.

Can you send me information on an insurance claim I made?

You will need to contact your insurance company information on any claims made. You can use our online tool to look up an insurance agent, agency, or company's contact information (fortress.wa.gov).

Can you send me the insurance policy information on a home/business at 123 Main Street?

At the OIC, we don't collect or store records of individual policyholders. If you'd like to know about the insurance coverage of a home or business, you will need to ask the property owner.

Can you tell me if there were any insurance claims against a particular property?

We don't collect or maintain records of claims against a specific property. But, LexisNexis®, a consumer reporting agency, does generate a Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) report. This may be helpful if you're looking for information about claims.
