Deer Park woman must repay $2,815 to AFLAC for fake medical claims

OLYMPIA, Wash. – A Spokane-area woman was sentenced for insurance fraud after an investigation by Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

Hollyanne E. Davis, 32, of Deer Park, pleaded guilty to insurance fraud and was sentenced in Spokane County Superior Court to repay $2,815 in fraudulent insurance claims, 16 hours of community service, two years’ probation and fined for court costs and fees. 

Davis was charged on June 30, 2014 with second-degree theft, a felony, for filing false insurance claims totaling $2,815. According to the charges, Davis reported 15 false medical claims at five medical facilities for herself and three family members to her insurance company, AFLAC, from October until December 2011.

Kreidler’s Special Investigations Unit investigates insurance fraud and works with the Attorney General’s Office and local prosecutors to prosecute criminal cases.  Consumers can report suspected insurance fraud on the Insurance Commissioner’s website.
