For Consumers

Issuer disclosures, notices and processes to protect privacy of health care information (R 2013-11)

This rule will protect consumers from unauthorized disclosures about their health care services or payments by their insurance company to family members who are on the same health plan. These extra protections will be especially helpful to minors, victims of domestic violence and young adult children who are still on their parents’ health plans. The rule only applies to state-regulated health plans.
