Post disaster data call

Certain property and casualty insurers are required to report claims information related to a particular disaster event.

Who submits post-disaster data

All companies, both authorized and surplus lines, with claims associated with the disaster event must report. The applicable lines of insurance for reporting can be found in the general post-disaster data call instructions.

Due dates for post-disaster data

Companies are not required to report data until our office has activated a post-disaster data call for a specified event. Our office will notify companies when we activate reporting for an event. The notification will include the name of the event, the reporting frequency, and the due dates through email and GovDelivery. Active data calls can be found in the ‘Active disaster data calls’ section below.

What you'll submit

Two data templates must be submitted on a recurring basis: The all lines template and the residential template. The all lines template is designed to get immediate, generalized claims data, whereas the residential template is designed to collect more granular information for specified personal lines. 

All lines template

The all lines template does not change based on the disaster. This template will become available for download under the applicable active disaster below. After a specified catastrophe event, our office will activate this data call and notify companies of the event, reporting frequency, and due dates.

Residential template

The residential template is designed to capture granular, property-level claims data associated with a specified event. Unlike the all lines template, the residential template focuses on particular personal lines of insurance, such as flood for a flood event, or fire/homeowners for a wildfire event. This template will become available once our office activates the data call for a specified event. Separate instructions will also be posted for the residential template at the time of the data call activation to guide companies on the submission process. The residential template will have different reporting due dates and frequencies than the all lines template. The first due date will be later, and the reporting frequency will be reduced as compared to the all lines template.

How to submit the post-disaster reports

All files (both all lines and residential templates) must be submitted using the Verisk/ISO submission application. Please follow the submission steps outlined in the instructions document.
