Title insurance filing requirements

What forms do I file?

You are required to file all title insurance (leg.wa.gov) forms. See exceptions under RCW 48.18.100 (leg.wa.gov).

Filings must include

Filings should not include

  • Policy jackets,

  • Declarations pages,

  • Any other form made a part of the policy, and

  • Only applications (leg.wa.gov) made part of the policy.

  • Brochures,

  • Policyholder notices - unless the notice amends or modifies policy provisions,

  • Manuscript forms used on a one-time basis,

  • Billing notices, binders, etc., and

  • Applications, unless made part of the policy.

What rates and rules do I file?

You are required to file all title insurance rates and rules, as described in in RCW 48.29.140 (leg.wa.gov). See also WAC 284-29A (leg.wa.gov), which describes filing requirements that will apply to rates effective on or after January 1, 2014.
