Determine which type of crop losses you will be adjusting (non-residents)

You must have a license from your resident state or, if your resident state does not issue an adjuster exam or license, the state you designate as your home state.

Federal crop insurance only

Obtain Crop adjuster proficiency program (CAPP) certification (www.capp.ag-risk.org). This annual certification requires completion of pre-licensing education courses and the successful completion of a series of exams.

CAPP certification courses and exams are only offered by National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) (www.capp.ag-risk.org).

Private market crop insurance only

Once you've completed either your CAPP certification or have an active crop-adjuster license from your resident state (or designated home state) you may apply for your Washington state non-resident crop-adjuster license online (fortress.wa.gov).
