What you’re looking for may already be public information
We want to get you to the records you’re looking for as quickly as possible. Explore links to these popular resources to ensure what you’re looking for isn’t already available.
Find information about your insurance agent or company
Our office maintains a database of information about insurance agents, agencies and the companies licensed to do business in Washington state. You can find complaints made against your insurer, contact information for agents and companies, company financial information and orders for disciplinary actions we’ve taken against agents and companies.
View the rates your insurance company filed with our office
You can find company rate and form filings by searching the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' (NAIC) System for Electronic Rate and Form Filings (SERFF). You can also sign up to get notifications when your health insurer files a rate increase request with our office.
- Search rate, rule and form filings in SERFF Filing Access
- Sign up for notifications when your health insurer files a rate increase
Find out if there’s a lawsuit against your insurance company
View our Insurance Fair Conduct Act information to see if there's a potential lawsuit filed against your company for unreasonable or unfair claims practices. You can also learn how to file notice of a potential lawsuit.
Find the life-expectancy table published by our office
If you're an employee of the courts or an appraiser working on the value of a life and term estate or annuity, the life-expectancy table you should use is publicly available on our website.
Information we don’t collect or maintain
Our office doesn’t collect or maintain insurance information on individual policyholders. Examples of other information we can’t provide include:
- Records on any individual life insurance policyholders, but we do have some tips on how to find an old life insurance policy.
- What insurance the other driver has if you’ve been in an accident. You’ll need to check with the other driver or police if they responded you and collected the other driver’s information.
- Your claims history with an insurer, but you can use our agent, agency and company lookup tool to find your insurer’s contact information.
- Insurance policy information for individuals or businesses.
- Records of claims against any specific property. You can learn how to get a free Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) report from LexisNexis®, which may be helpful when looking for information about claims.
Submit your public records request
If you’re requesting a list of individuals and it appears that your intended use may be for commercial purposes, we may not be able to fulfill your request. Please read the information regarding requests for list of individuals before submitting your request.
