Medicare’s Prescription Drug Program (Part D)

Part D helps seniors and people with disabilities cover the cost of prescription drugs.  To be eligible for Part D, you must have or qualify for Medicare Hospital Insurance (Part A) or Medicare Medical Insurance (Part B), or both.  Signing up for Part D is optional.

To get Part D, you need to join a Medicare-approved prescription drug plan. Each plan covers different prescription drugs, so you need to review each one carefully to find the plan that best meets your needs. Plans can change their cost and what drugs they cover each year

Yearly enrollment occurs Nov. 15 to Dec. 31. During this time, you may change plans, drop plans, or sign up.
