What to consider before you buy a discount health plan
Research the savings
- Can you get the same savings without the discount health plan?
- Ask your provider if there are other ways you can get a discount on your health care services.
Check with your provider
- Does your provider (pharmacy, doctor or hospital) accept the discount health plan?
- Check with them before you enroll in a discount plan.
Understand how the discount works
Review the written plan disclosure information. It contains all the discount plan's terms and conditions. It should explain:
- The discount benefit
- Processing fees and periodic charges
- Any limitations, exclusions or exceptions affecting the discount benefits
- Any processes or conditions to receive the discount benefit
- Cancellation procedures and refund rights
- Renewal and termination conditions
- Complaint procedures, including filing a complaint with our office
- How to contact the company (phone number, website and mailing address)
