Resident viatical settlement broker applicants must qualify as a life insurance agent and be appointed by each viatical settlement provider represented.

The following must be submitted:

Individual Viatical Settlement Broker Insurance License Application - (INS-14 VSB) (54 KB).
Viatical Settlement Broker Appointment Notice - (INS-18 VSB) (22 KB), completed by each viatical settlement provider represented.
Your fingerprints. See fingerprinting requirements.
Test score reports or proof of qualification as a life insurance agent.
- Note: You must pass the life insurance agent’s exam in Washingtion, but do not have to be licensed as a life insurance agent. If you're not licensed within 2 years after passing the exam you must be re-examined.
License and appointment fees.
Pre-License Education Certificates, if applicable.

To license, you must maintain a lawfully established place of business in Washington and provide the following:

If you file 6 months past the date of you're application, a letter of good standing from the Secretary of State’s Office.

To satisfy qualification requirements, you must either be:

Licensed as a viatical settlement broker in your home state or
Have taken your home state's agent life exam in the last 2 years.
Have passed a life insurance agent’s exam in a state within the 2 year period immediately preceding the date of the application, or
Hold a valid license as a life insurance agent, or
Viatical settlement broker in the resident state.
